Welcome to Brisbane City

>> An Introduction To Brisbane CBD

Brisbane is a friendly city with the best in entertainment, the arts, food and culture. Entertainment opportunities are endless and it's all easily accessed on foot, on bike, or by bus, train or the handy CityCat ferry.

Discover how beautiful a city can be with grassy parks and subtropical gardens dotted amongst the glass and steel skyscrapers. The sparkling river snakes into the sleepy suburbs that come alive with lush jacarandas, vibrant poinciana and fragrant frangipani. Ancient Moreton Bay figs and giant mango trees gracefully shade the curved iron roofs of the iconic 'Queenslander' houses.

Al fresco restaurants and cafes are abuzz day and night in the heart of the city. For the finest a la carte dining, try the Port Office Hotel and Michael's at the Riverside Centre. For more casual dining, try Jade Buddha at Eagle Street Pier or the Plough Inn at South Bank.

Head to South Bank to enjoy theatre and art at the Cultural Centre or spend time at the Queensland Art Gallery and new Gallery of Modern Art. Visit the Queensland Museum Sciencentre, a huge hit with the kids, and be sure to explore the facilities at the new State Library of Queensland. Choose from a huge variety of entertainment at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre including dance, musicals and comedy.

At night, the tempo of the city changes with live music, theatrical productions and the excitement of the casino. Follow the pulse from South Bank, past Eagle Street Pier and the lively Riverside precinct, along the river to trendy Fortitude Valley and Chinatown.

Less than 30 minutes from the city, you can relax in the peace of the bush or the waters of the bay. Explore the charming bayside villages, hand-feed a dolphin, or head into the lush hinterland and discover rainforest mountains, sparkling lakes and the picturesque Brisbane Valley. Head to the Gold or Sunshine Coasts and relax on beautiful golden beaches, or live it up at the exciting world-class theme parks.

Shoppers should begin their quest in Queen Street Mall, which features almost a kilometre of shopping paradise with chic shopping strips, plazas and arcades. If you can't find what you're shopping for in downtown Brisbane, it simply doesn't exist!
