Perched on the Blackall Range, Maleny boasts spectacular views of Bribie Island and the Glass House Mountains. Nestled amongst rolling hills and emerald valleys, Maleny features many other natural attractions, such as the pristine rainforest of Mary Cairncross Park and Kenilworth Forest, and the sparkling Lake Baroon.

First settled in the 1870s, Maleny has a large, artistic, culturally diverse community, which is evident in the area's range of unique galleries, studios and specialty shops.

The area supports a strong dairy industry, featuring Maleny Dairies and the famous Maleny Cheese, and is peppered with gourmet restaurants and quality bed and breakfast establishments.

Maleny is also home to the Maleny Mountain Winery, often referred to as the 'Big Barrel Winery' because of the unique shape of the main building. Visit their cellar door for a wine and cheese tasting, taking in the sweeping views over the hinterland.

Time your visit to coincide with one of Maleny's colourful annual festivals. Visit during May and experience the annual Maleny Arts and Craft Festival. September features the annual Spring Fair and the quirky Maleny Scarecrow Festival. Music lovers will love October's Opera in the Rainforest, and the Maleny Festival of Colour in November features entertainment for the whole family.
