Visit Chatswood
Chatswood is located on Sydney's lovely North Shore, just 15 minutes by car, bus or train from the central business district. With fantastic shopping and dining, lots of activities, and close proximity to Sydney's attractions, Chatswood is an ideal base from which to explore the city.
One of the North Shore's major commercial and retail areas, Chatswood is home to numerous corporate offices and large shopping centres. Browse literally hundreds of stores at Westfield Chatswood, the upmarket Chatswood Chase, Lemon Grove, and the cosmopolitan Mandarin Centre.
The pedestrianised Chatswood Mall on Victoria Avenue features regular live music, food and craft markets, and a giant playable chess board. Catch a new release flick at one of the multiplex cinemas or, for something a bit different, watch a Bollywood or Japanese Anime film at the Mandarin Centre.
Chatswood boasts an extensive array of drinking and dining options, from cheap takeaways to stylish restaurants and bars. Sample a wide selection of local and ethnic cuisines, or lounge until late in one of many sophisticated bar-restaurants.
Sports lovers should head to Chatswood Oval, one of the Lower North Shore's largest sports grounds, for a game of cricket or football. Leafy Beauchamp Park features a rose garden, sandstone sculptures, playground and sports oval, and is perfect for picnicking, strolling, cycling or walking the dog.
Nearby Lane Cove features a golf course, tennis centre and swim centre. Lane Cove National Park is a great spot for bushwalking and birdwatching. Fish, sail or swim in Lane Cove River, or just sit back and relax on its banks.
Throughout September, Chatswood plays host to the annual Willoughby Spring Festival. The festival is the second largest in Lower North Sydney and celebrates Chatswood's culture and prosperity. The festival features local artists, botanical shows, theatre and music performances, outdoor activites, market stalls, film festivals and more.
