Take a stroll along the Coogee to Maroubra Coastal Walk and marvel at the stunning coastal views. The walk takes you from the historic Waverly Cemetery, home of Henry Lawson's grave, all the way to La Perouse.
Visit Dolphin Point or Wylie's Baths, two of Sydney's best ocean tidal pools. Do laps in the 50 yard pool or simply sit back on the sundeck and admire the ocean views. Enjoy a snack at the kiosk or unwind with a massage or yoga class.
Coogee is home to plenty of festivals and events. The Island Challenge is held in the last weekend of November by the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club and involves a 2.4 kilometre ocean swim. The Coogee Arts Festival is held in the parklands February and features a series of open-air events, such as theatre performances and a film festival.
After spending all day at the beach, enjoy a meal at the historic Beach Palace Hotel, located right on the sand at Coogee Beach. It began life as the Coogee Palace Aquarium in 1887, and now hosts a variety of bars and restaurants offering terrific food and a relaxed atmosphere.
Alternatively, head to Barzura Cafe and Ristorante, which features delicious modern Australian cuisine, friendly service, and amazing ocean views. In 2007 it was voted as the number one destination in Sydney 'to impress tourists' by the Sydney Morning Herald's 'Good Living' liftout.
