Visit North Ryde
The third oldest settlement in Australia, North Ryde is now one of the country's leading commercial districts. With a vibrant university precinct, tranquil parklands and close proximity to Sydney's CBD, it's an ideal base for both business and leisure visitors.
Its large corporate offices, thriving retail developments and diverse population give North Ryde a dynamic energy. Shops, cafes and restaurants are dotted throughout the region, particularly on Coxs and Blenheim Roads. For some serious shopping, the Macquarie Centre on Herring Road contains 250 department and specialty stores, as well as a cinema complex amd ice skating rink. If you're after a bite to eat, North Ryde's fantastic range of cafes and eateries offers something to suit all tastes.
North Ryde features plenty of recreational activities for people of all ages. Visit North Ryde Golf Club for a round of golf or a sumptuous meal amidst beautiful grounds. Enjoy a game of tennis at Tennis World North Ryde, or have a relaxing picnic in one of the many neighbourhood parks. North Ryde Common is a focal point for the local community, hosting Australia Day concerts and fireworks and Christmas Carols by Candelight every year.
North Ryde's various national parks and reserves provide tranquil escapes from the hustle and bustle. The Field of Mars Reserve, though quite small, is home to around 300 plant species, as well as ringtail possums and assorted birdlife. Go bushwalking or mountain biking through Lane Cove National Park, and explore Aboriginal rock shelters and carvings. Or head down to Lane Cove River for a spot of swimming, fishing or boating.
