Visit Rooty Hill

Rooty Hill is located in the western suburbs of Sydney, 42 kilometres from the city. Experience a quieter side of Sydney and breathe in the fresh air.


The suburb is named after the large grassy hill that lies at its centre. It was here that one of the most important farms of early Australia was located. It was used as a government depot and stock farm, and provided much of the food supply to Sydney. It was also home to Governor Phillip King's Government House. Today it remains a grassy hill, offering panoramic views over the western suburbs and towards the Blue Mountains. In 2007 it was entered onto the state's heritage register.


Rooty Hill is home to the Eastern Creek Raceway, Australia's premier permanent racing circuit. Smell the rubber burn as you head to the track to watch a race. Feel the adrenalin pump through your veins as you marvel at the speed of the machines as they roar by. The raceway hosts numerous events a year and features both supercars and motorbikes.


Nearby to Rooty Hill is the Blacktown Leisure Centre. A large community centre, it offers indoor sports courts, a fitness studio, a cafe and retail area and a lap pool, as well as western Sydney's only wave pool.
