Visit Walsh Bay
Cradled between Darling Harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Walsh Bay is one of Sydney's leading cultural and dining precincts. One of the oldest seaports in Sydney, Walsh Bay now buzzes with chic restaurants and bars, theatres and dance studios.
Walsh Bay is ideally explored on foot. Take the self-guided Heritage Walk along the stunning waterfront and under the Harbour Bridge, and discover the area's rich colonial history and architecture. Or follow the Sculpture Walk and be captivated by modern artworks like the towering 'Black Totem II' and the eye-catching 'Still Life With Stone and Car'.
If you're looking for entertainment, Walsh Bay is home to some of Sydney's premier theatres. Visit the Sydney Theatre Company and Sydney Theatre to catch Australian and international drama performances. See a mesmerising blend of ancient and modern indigenous dance at Bangarra Dance Theatre. Alternatively, join a class with the Sydney Dance Company, or unleash the kids' acting talent at the Australian Theatre for Young People. Experience the atmosphere and excitement of major events like the Biennale of Sydney and the Sydney Writers Festival.
When you need to unwind, Walsh Bay features several beautiful, relaxing outdoor spots. Clyne Reserve, overlooking Sydney Harbour, features landscaped native gardens, a fenced playground, as well as barbecue and picnic facilities. The grassy slopes of Observatory Park are perfect for a picnic, offering spectacular, elevated views across the harbour. Wander down the hill towards the water, and discover the side of The Rocks few tourists get to see. Or stroll among the palms at Dawes Point Park and admire the dramatic underview of Sydney Harbour Bridge.
With The Rocks just around the corner, Circular Quay a short stroll away and plenty of public transport links to the city and beyond, it's easy to get to Walsh Bay, but you might find it hard to leave!
