>> An Introduction To Daintree

Revive your senses in nature, watch colourful tropical birds flying in the shade of the rainforest, and relax in one of the stunning and unique accommodation establishments of the Daintree.

Home to the world's most ancient forests and bound by the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree is the only one of its kind. To truly appreciate what this amazing region has to offer, you have to stay in the area for more than a day.

Discover the exceptional and rare biodiversity of the National Park and try to spot the iconic estuarine crocodiles. Cross the Daintree River on its picturesque cable ferry and admire breathtaking scenery along the coast. Here the emerald rainforests cascade from the mountaintops to plunge dramatically into the turquoise water of the Coral Sea.

The township of Daintree, perched on a bend of the Daintree River, is just further on from the turn-off to the Daintree Ferry. Enjoy the ambience of a laidback village and browse in the art and craft shops. Here you will find handmade pottery that brings to life the pixies and elves of the rainforest, superb textile art and painting, local jams, tea and tropical produce.

The region is full of activities, 4WD adventure tours, river cruises, Aboriginal interpretive excursions, and the Daintree Discovery Centre. Whatever you choose to do, you won't forget your Daintree experience. At night enjoy a show at the Karnak Playhouse & Rainforest Sanctuary.
