Gold Coast Weather

Gold Coast is a very picturesque coastal city in Queensland Australia and enjoys a great reputation as a holiday destination. There is plenty to do here and with its mostly sunny and subtropical weather, Gold Coast surely is a fabulous place to go to.

While it is a great holiday destination almost all year through, the peak tourist season lasts from December to February when the weather is most sublime. The average temperature on the Gold Coast is different from summer and winter seasons. The former sees a range of 19 to 29 degree Celsius ad the winter sees a range from 9 to around 20 degree Celsius.

 Summer on the Gold Coast

This season lasts from December to February and it can get pretty hot. For sun worshippers though, this is ideal time to indulge in some beach time. It can get pretty humid too. There are more than 30 beaches to enjoy during this time. From the busy Surfers Paradise to the quieter places, like Currumbin and Tallebudgeera Creek, Gold Coast offers a plethora of options for summer time activities.

 Autumn on the Gold Coast

March, April and May are the beautiful autumn season on the Gold Coast and there is enough sunny weather to enjoy outdoor activities. The annual marine show happens during this time and you can also enjoy hot air balloon rides or discover the beautiful tranquil Gold Coast waters in a enjoyful boat cruise during this season.

 Winter on the Gold Coast

The months of June through August are winter season on the Gold Coast and it can get pretty windy during this time. Adventure sports like kite surfing and visiting the many theme parks in the vicinity are great winter activities on the Gold Coast. The annual Gold Coast Airport Marathon is also held in July and is a great event to be apart of. The event is held in Southport, just minutes from Surfers Paradise.

 Spring on the Gold Coast

September, October and November are the spring season on the Gold Coast. There is a profusion of flowers everywhere and the water of the coast is pleasantly warm to swim in. This is the off-peak tourist season but the event calendar is still full and plenty of fun to be had.  The Gold Coast botanical gardens is a fabulous destination to visit as the flowers will be blooming perfectly around the Spring season.

What to wear on the Gold Coast

For most of the year, it is enough to come equipped with light wear or resort wear. For a hot summer, bring extra sun protection along and perhaps sun hats too. During the winter season, you may need to carry a lightweight jacket along in case you feel cold in the evenings. Hiking shoes are necessary if you have included National Parks in your itinerary.
