Snowy Mountains

The Snowy Mountains are the highest mountain ranges in Australia, spanning far and wide across vast high country and scenic low land. From Southern New South Wales the ‘Snowies’ stretch down to Canberra and south across the picturesque Monaro Plains.
Known for its quality snow fields, between June to September the slopes of the Snowy Mountains boast excellent skiing conditions, attracting thousands of tourists each year to its ski resorts. Stay in a cosy lodge up in the snow, or take refuge in a warm cabin down in the valley.
In spring, the mountains are painted with wildflowers and blossoms, and are a playground for nature lovers. The cool flowing rivers and lakes become host to fishing festivals and competitions, and the spring fed streams of the Monaro plains are prefect in clarity for trout fishing.
During the warmer months, Four-wheel-driving, bushwalking, rock climbing, horse riding, mountain biking and kayaking are just some of the popular ways to discover the mountains and streams that form this captivating landscape.
