The diverse cultural strength of Darwin is reflected in the excellent museums and art galleries.
There are a large number of Aborigines living in Darwin, having a huge impact on the city, 75 nationalities call Darwin home, each bringing with them their own traditions and cuisine, resulting in some of the most fabulous Darwin festivals and events.
The original inhabitants of the greater Darwin area are the Larrakia people, who are the Aboriginal Traditional Owners of Larrakia Country.
The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin holds collections of Aboriginal art and material culture, visual arts, crafts, South East Asian and Oceanic art and material culture, maritime archaeology, Northern Territory history and natural sciences.
The Chinese people are a major part of Darwin history. The Chinese Temple and Museum showcases displays and photos documenting Chinese work and achievements since first settling in Darwin.
