The Port Adelaide River and Barker Inlet is a protected Dolphin sanctuary, managed by the South Australian State Government and the Adelaide Community.
The goal is to create a safe environment for these mammals and reduce human impact on this area to protect it for future generations.
It is not uncommon to spot Dolphins in Adelaide’s many waterways, and guided cruises and kayaking tours take visitors out to witness some of the 250 Bottlenose Dolphins that inhabit these waters.

Monarto Zoo is 60 minutes from the center of Adelaide. Stretching 1,000 hectares, this South Australian Zoo plays an important role internationally in the breeding of rare and endangered species.
Walk some of the tracks and climb onboard the Zu-loop shuttle to be wowed by the wildlife that can be seen from the viewing platforms.
Informal volunteer guides are close by to answer questions about the animals, and keeper talks are held frequently to teach visitors about the wildlife.
