Places to relax in Brisbane

Wander along pathways wreathed in blooms or cycle beside the sun-drenched Brisbane River. Marvel at the ornate Nepalese pagoda and unwind over a coffee on Stanley Street Plaza. South Bank is a little beauty.
Nestled amid tropical vegetation, the artificial beach and lagoon are perfect spots for a sunbake and a swim. The precinct offers all the facilities of a city within a relaxing holiday atmosphere.

Brisbane's Riverwalk connects more than 20km of pathways, roads, bridges and riverside parks along the Brisbane River. Locals like to use those pathways for a walk, a jog or a bike ride. It's a pleasant, relaxing way to pass the time, and it's also an excellent way to discover some of the city's best attractions.
Customs House, Mount Coot-tha, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Queensland Maritime Museum, Story Bridge and the Botanical Gardens are just a few options.

Greater Brisbane boasts a collection of stunning coast lines. Take a drive along Moreton Bay Drive. Stop in Redcliffe, Sandgate, Manly, or Cleveland. Watch yachts sailing in between the islands and enjoy fish and chips in a waterfront park or on a jetty. Wander the streets, past cafes, restaurants and quaint shops, and enjoy the coastal villages' atmosphere.
Moreton Bay is a very laidback place, where you'll see beautiful old timber Queenslander houses and savour the cool sea breeze and warm sun.

Brisbane offers lovely gardens and parklands in which to relax. Whether you want to play a team game, read a book on the grass, or simply stroll around the area, the Botanical Gardens, New Farm Park and Roma Street Parklands are three great spots to visit. Charming and peaceful, they are the real lungs of the city. For a striking view over Brisbane, Mount Coot-tha is also a very pleasant place to be.

Join a free Tai Chi class in Chinatown Mall, Fortitude Valley.
The class is held every Sunday at 9am. Consider wearing comfortable clothes.

Take a trip to North Stradbroke Island and lie on its stunning white sandy beaches. Luckily, the island has escaped overdevelopment, so it is easy to lose the crowd and walk alone on beautiful coastal trails.
Rent a 4WD and follow the off-road track to freshwater lakes, or drive on the beach to find your own perfect hideaway. Fish, surf, snorkel or sunbake. Here, you can play Robinson Crusoe for a day or more.
