>> Sydney's biggest street party!

Begun in 1978 to commemorate the first gay rights movement, the Mardi Gras now attracts hundreds of thousands of people from across the globe and from all walks of life. The festival includes a sports carnival, music, drama and comedy performances, fireworks displays, art and film exhibitions, and the parade! Don your most flamboyant outfit or just watch the cavalcade of carnival floats, lively dancers and extravagant costumes. Nudity is forbidden, though be prepared to see some interesting sights!
The post-parade party is one of Australia's largest ongoing parties, and has featured such international performers as Kylie Minogue, Boy George, Cyndi Lauper, Chaka Khan and the Village People.
