Multicultural Heritage
Visit the Lit Sing Gung Chinese Temple. This small red building with its incense and brassware is a reminder of the significant numbers of Chinese who travelled to the goldfields of North Queensland in the 19th century. After the gold rushes, the Chinese community dispersed south, settling in towns like Innisfail. The Temple was built in 1940 by the shire's Chinese population.

Visit the Canecutters Memorial, overlooking the Johnstone River. Erected in 1959 by the Italian community of Innisfail, the Memorial is important in demonstrating the contribution of Italian migrants to the sugar industry, both as labourers and farm owners. It is also a rare aspect of Queensland's cultural heritage as an early example of a monument carrying an inscription in two languages: English and Italian.
