Located on Cairn’s Esplanade is the ‘Lagoon’ - a man-made lagoon style saltwater pool that overlooks the ocean – providing safe swimming along with picnic facilities and grass areas for the kids. Life Guards patrol the pool which is open during the months of October to March between the hours of 7am-9pm daily. There are also security guards and police on patrol 24 hours a day.  

The world renowned Great Barrier Reef provides fun options for school-aged children, including riding the glass bottom boat, snorkelling and viewing the marine life from a submersible. Many of the surrounding islands on the reef have kids clubs and programmes that are sure to keep the kids occupied.

Expose the kids to a variety of fauna, flora, and wildlife at Cairns Tropical Zoo at Clifton Beach, ride the exciting Kuranda Skyrail and visit the Butterfly Sanctuary at Kuranda Village.
