If you are on a road trip to the Whitsundays, from north or south you must reach Proserpine on the Bruce Highway. From there, it’s easy to follow the signs to Airlie Beach. You’ll travel 26 km of the coastal town.
From Airlie to Shute Harbour or other small towns, a drive along the coast is a wonderful way to discover the beauty of the region. Stunning views of the nearby islands and the Coral Sea dotted with sailing boats complement the charm of the road fringed with tropical trees. Drive up to the Shute Harbour hill for one of the best panoramas of the area. But don’t forget your camera or you will truly regret it!
You’ll find car parks about anywhere. Security parking is available at Shute Harbour, where most of the cruises depart, ideal for when you go on a day trip.
