Separated from the mainland of Australia by the notorious waters of Bass Strait, Tasmania is an island of unspoilt natural beauty and wild landscapes, renowned for its outstanding food and wine, and provides an idyllic destination for the acclaimed Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
Close to a fifth of the island is protected National Park, a refuge for rare and endangered plants and animals, boasting ancient forests, rugged coastlines and glittering waters.
Explore wildlife parks and see the intriguing platypus, clumsy wombats and shy rock wallabies. Visit the spectacular coastlines, fringed with cool ocean waters that teem with aquatic life such as seals, penguins, dolphins and whales and countless birdlife.
Depending on your sense of adventure Tasmania has it covered. Choose to explore the bush, or launch yourself skyward on a cable hang-glider. Try mountain bike riding, jet boating, white water rafting, or abseiling, or join an adventure tour and let the experts take care of the details.
Tasmania boasts a vibrant cultural life featuring lively entertainment, galleries and museums. Take a fascinating Heritage Walk to visit historic villages and Victorian streetscapes, and learn about local history and legend. Explore the intriguing collection of treasures at Tasmania’s antique stores, many featuring local speciality timbers such as myrtle, blackwood, colonial cedar and kauri.

Breaking News about Tasmania Accommodation
Tweed Ultima: Fantastic Hotel - The friendly service was a refreshing change. Every member of staff was extremely accommodating. Any problem was immediately fixed. For example, one of the blinds had come off the rack and it was fixed the same day. Also my sister and I are of that age where we really feel the heat and we requested 2 fans in our rooms. These were there on our return. Thank you for your kind, considerate service this made our stay even more enjoyable. The rooms were clean and well stocked. A very beautiful hotel and the buffet breakfast was delicious and very inexpensive.
Victoria Square Apartments: great apartments - Close to shops and restaurants and the beach; also has good pool amenities.
Palm Royale Cairns: Wonderful Hotel - Our stay at the Palm Royale was an enjoyable one. It was the first time our family traveled on a holiday to Australia and we enjoyed the time at Palm Royale for the following reasons: Proximity to some major shopping centres, walking distance for Earlvile, DFO and the Raintree on the adjacent, including the Sunland Leisure Park. I enjoyed the facilities especially the swimming pools. Courtesy bus service provided for the guests to the main centre was a bonus for us. Reasonable price. Tours organised by the Hotel was good, we did not have to run around to tour companies to do the booking.
Burleigh On The Beach: Cosy place to stay - I like that it is only a short walk to the beach and to the surf club. Staff were welcoming and accomodating. I enjoy my stay, everything was good.
