About The Whitsundays

Australia has been called the Lucky Country for many reasons, the Whitsundays are one of the strongest. Just have a look at the photos, they speak for themselves.

Imagine yourself relaxing on brilliant white sandy beaches, swimming in warm turquoise water, snorkeling amongst tropical fish, enjoying breathtaking ocean views, and taking advantage of the myriad of activities and tours the Whitsundays has to offer on land, sea and in the air.

Geographically, the Whitsunday Coast and Islands are centrally situated on the Queensland Coast, 150km north of Mackay and 300km south of Townsville, right in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The 74 beautiful islands in the Whitsunday Group are probably the best known of Australia’s holiday islands, but the Whitsundays region also takes the towns of Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour, the large Conway National Park, and a number of small coastal townships to the north and south of Airlie Beach.

Many visitors expect a series of overdeveloped resort islands, but hopefully it is not the case. All but four – Dent, Hamilton, Daydream and Hayman – of the entire archipelago are predominantly or completely National Park, leaving plenty of room for some bushwalking or other nature activities.

Here, you will also find a stunning range of accommodation from budget to some of Australia’s and the world’s best resorts, to match every age, taste and wallet.

The Whitsundays are a must see and are as much suitable for honeymooners and adventurers, as families.
